Walters' 3-pointer helps Old Dominion move on

Mar 26, 2008 - 4:11 AM CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia (Ticker) -- Jazzmin Walters made a 3-pointer with 4.8 seconds left in overtime to lead fifth-seeded Old Dominion to an 88-85 victory over fourth-seeded Virginia on Tuesday in the Greensboro Regional of the NCAA Tournament.

Old Dominion (31-4) closed the game on a 7-0 run as Jessica Canady converted a three-point play that tied it at 85-85 with 1:25 remaining, and Walters capped the run by hitting the game-winner with the shot clock running down.

Tiffany Green then preserved the lead by blocking a potential game-tying 3-pointer by Lyndra Littles just before the buzzer.

The Lady Monarchs advanced to the "Sweet 16" and will face No. 1 seed Connecticut on Sunday.

Littles had 29 points and 14 rebounds for Virginia (24-10), which forced overtime thanks to a pair of free throws by Aisha Mohammed with 1.8 seconds left.
