Curl resigns as Houston coach
Mar 23, 2010 - 10:49 PM HOUSTON(AP) -- Houston women's basketball coach Joe Curl has resigned because of heart problems.Curl's resignation on Tuesday comes a day after men's basketball coach Tom Penders resigned.
Curl, who has been with the team for 12 seasons, missed five games in late February and Houston's loss to Texas Tech in the opening round of the Women's National Invitational Tournament because of health issues.
The 55-year-old missed the entire 2007-08 season after suffering a heart attack. He went 193-167 at Houston and led the Cougars to five postseason appearances.
