Belmont tabs Newbauer as women's hoops coach

May 20, 2013 - 7:11 PM Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Belmont University has named Cameron Newbauer its new women's basketball coach.

Newbauer spent last season as an assistant at Louisville, helping the Cardinals to the national championship game of the NCAA Tournament.

"We could not be more pleased that Cameron has accepted our offer to lead our women's basketball program," said Belmont athletic director Mike Strickland. Yet Cameron's character, sincerity, and enthusiasm are unmistakable and ideally suited for Belmont University."

Newbauer was also an assistant at Georgia for five seasons and spent time with the Georgia men's program as graduate manager and director of basketball operations. He was also an assistant at Siena.
