Belmont women's coach Newbauer signs five-year extension
Apr 21, 2016 - 5:30 PM NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Belmont women's basketball coach Cameron Newbauer has signed a five-year contract extension.The school announced the extension Thursday without revealing terms. Newbauer's contract now runs through the 2020-21 season.
Newbauer has a 52-44 record in three seasons at Belmont, including a 24-9 mark last season and NCAA Tournament appearance. Belmont won the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament before falling to Michigan State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Belmont President Robert Fisher said in a statement that ''we believe that Cam Newbauer is the best young women's basketball coach anywhere.''
Newbauer worked as a women's assistant coach at Georgia and Louisville before coming to Belmont. He also has been a men's assistant at Siena and a men's graduate manager and director of basketball operations at Georgia.
