McCants, North Carolina gets past Georgia into regional semifinals
Mar 26, 2008 - 5:57 AM NORFOLK, Virginia (Ticker) - Rashanda McCants had 23 points and eight rebounds and Erlana Larkins added 18 and 10 to power top-seeded North Carolina to an 80-66 victory over eighth-seeded Georgia in a second-round matchup out of the New Orleans Region on Tuesday.Cetera DeGraffenreid chipped in 13 points for the Tar Heels, who will face Louisville in the regional semifinals on Saturday.
North Carolina (32-2) trailed, 33-26, late in the first half but went on a 20-0 run bridging the first and second half to take a 46-33 advantage with 17:28 remaining in the game. Georgia could get no closer than seven the rest of the way.
Tasha Humphrey had 20 points and 10 rebounds and Megan Darrah added 14 points for the Lady Bulldogs (23-10), who committed 24 turnovers.
