LSU looks to hand Florida second straight loss

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (Ticker) - Florida coach Urban Meyer will have to find some offense from somebody besides Tim Tebow.

After an unexpected defeat, the ninth-ranked Gators visit "Death Valley" on Saturday for a Southeastern Conference clash with No. 1 Louisiana State.

Last weekend, then-No. 4 Florida was stunned at home by unranked Auburn, 20-17, on a last-second 43-yard field goal by freshman Wes Byrum.

Star sophomore quarterback Tebow had another fine game for the Gators (4-1, 2-1 SEC East), completing 20-of-27 passes for 201 yards, a touchdown and an interception while rushing for 75 yards and a score. But Florida received just 36 yards of offense from the rest of the team.

LSU (5-0, 2-0 West) is coming off a 34-9 triumph at intrastate foe Tulane in which the Tigers scored the final 27 points - 24 after halftime. The Tigers moved ahead of Southern California for the No. 1 spot in the poll after the Trojans posted just a 27-24 win at Washington.

Jacob Hester and Charles Scott each ran for a pair of touchdowns for the Tigers, who lead the nation in rushing defense (39.0 yards), pass-efficiency defense (67.76) and total defense (174.6), and are second in scoring defense (6.4 points).

Florida leads the all-time series, 28-22-3, including a 23-10 triumph in Gainesville last year. The Tigers posted a 21-17 win here in 2005.
