Florida State tries to continue momentum at Wake Forest

Oct 11, 2007 - 10:33 AM No. 21 Florida State (4-1) at Wake Forest (3-2) 7:30 pm EDT

WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Last year, Wake Forest handed Bobby Bowden a memorable defeat. The Florida State coach would love to get some revenge this week.

Surging No. 21 Florida State visits the Demon Deacons in an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup on Thursday night.

Wake Forest shocked the nation by winning the ACC title in 2006. The team's biggest win during the regular season was a 30-0 beatdown of the Seminoles in Tallahassee - the first home shutout handed to Bowden in his then 31 years at Florida State.

The Demon Deacons (3-2, 2-1 ACC Atlantic) got off to a rough start this year, losing at Boston College and at home to Nebraska. But they have bounced back with three straight wins.

Last week, Wake Forest struggled before downing conference weakling Duke in Durham, 41-36.

Kenneth Moore ran for two of four touchdowns for the Demon Deacons, who were burned for four TD passes by the Blue Devils' Thaddeus Lewis.

Florida State (4-1, 1-1 Atlantic) opened its season with a "Bowden Bowl" loss at Clemson but has not lost since.

Last Saturday, the Seminoles cruised past North Carolina State at home, 27-10.

Xavier Lee threw for 257 yards and a touchdown and ran for another score for Florida State, which helped assistant coach Chuck Amato beat the team he led last year.
