Canucks dominate Stars
Jan 25, 2011 - 7:20 AM Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - Henrik Sedin had a goal and two assists as the Vancouver Canucks dominated the Dallas Stars, 7-1, at Rogers Arena.Ryan Kesler, Mason Raymond and Mikael Samuelsson each had a goal and an assist for the Canucks, who snapped a four-game slide.
"We talked before the game about getting the power play going and making sure the bounces went our way," said Sedin. "Those two things were the difference tonight."
Roberto Luongo stopped 25 shots as Vancouver moved into a tie with idle Philadelphia for most points in the NHL with 69.
Brad Richards scored the lone goal for the Stars, who were coming off a 7-4 loss at the hands of Calgary on Friday. Kari Lehtonen allowed all seven goals on 33 shots before being pulled late in the game. Andrew Raycroft stopped three shots in just under seven minutes of action.
"He didn't have a good night tonight but we didn't give him any help," said Dallas head coach Marc Crawford about Lehtonen. "Tonight was a total team collapse and as the head coach I have to take responsibility cause I didn't have them ready."
Alexandre Burrows scored 1:18 into the game to give Vancouver an early 1-0 lead, but Richards tied the game six minutes later when his backhander at the right side of the net off a turnover got past Luongo.
However, Kesler gave Vancouver the lead for good less than two minutes later on the power play when his one-timer blast from the right circle sailed into the net.
Christian Ehrhoff scored on the power play 1:21 later for a 3-1 lead.
Samuelsson scored on a wrister from the left circle on the fly at the 3:57 mark of the second and Sedin's 11th goal of the year with 8:32 to play in the frame made it a 5-1 contest.
Raymond scored 11:05 into the third while Dan Hamhuis added a power-play goal with 6:48 to play to account for the final score.
