Final
Ryan, Ducks upend Rangers
Mar 10, 2011 - 7:19 AM Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Bobby Ryan had a goal and three assists as the Anaheim Ducks took a 5-2 win over the New York Rangers at Honda Center.Corey Perry and Lubomir Visnovsky each added two goals and an assist for the Ducks, who have won four of their last five. Dan Ellis made 30 stops in the win.
"The effort was all around. It was a great win. We felt pretty confident," Ryan said.
Marian Gaborik and Brandon Dubinsky each scored for the Rangers, who had won their previous two, including a 7-0 romp of Philadelphia on Sunday. Henrik Lundqvist was tagged for five goals on 33 shots in the loss.
Dubinsky opened the scoring in the game just 3:30 in as his snap shot from the right wing beat Ellis, but Anaheim scored the next three goals in the frame to take control of the game.
Just over four minutes after the Dubinsky goal, Anaheim tied the game on Perry's first goal of the contest when he threw the puck out front from the right side of the net and it hit off the skate of Dan Girardi and went in.
"They got a few lucky bounces there that got us off track a bit," Girardi said. "But our effort wasn't really there tonight and it just wasn't a good effort from us."
It was a 2-1 game at the 9:19 mark as a one-timer from Visnovsky at the right point sailed past Lundqvist.
Visnovsky's second goal of the game came with 41 seconds left when his slap shot in the high slot hit off the stick of a Ranger and went into the net.
The second period went scoreless as Lundqvist stopped 13 shots and Ellis made 11 saves.
After Ellis made a beautiful diving save early in the third, Anaheim skated the other way on a 2-on-1, with Perry sending it from the right side to the left and Ryan wristing it home at the 2:19 mark.
Gaborik scored just over three minutes later on the power play, but New York was unable to get any closer. Perry's 33rd goal of the season with 5:24 to play sealed the win.
