Taylor extends Gold Coast Titans NRL deal
Sep 19, 2016 - 7:55 AM Ash Taylor has extended his NRL contract with Gold Coast for another year.It means the boom halfback, who is in contention to win the Dally M rookie of the year award, will be tied to the Titans until the end of 2018.
Taylor had an outstanding season after switching from Brisbane, scoring 73 points from five tries, 26 goals and a match-winning golden point field goal against South Sydney.
The re-signing leaves the Titans fully stocked for playmakers with Tyrone Roberts also impressive in his debut year with the club and Kane Elgey due to return from a long-term knee injury.
"It's great news for the club and another crucial piece in establishing a bright future for the Titans," coach Neil Henry said.
"I'm very pleased personally to know Ash will be with us for at least the next two seasons but it's great for the Titans fans particularly as they can see a very good nucleus of a team for the future coming together."
Taylor, 21, said he was pleased to have his future locked away.
"I'm very proud of what I have achieved this year and I've learned a lot in my first season in the NRL, not just on the field but how to prepare and handle the physical side of the weekly grind of the game," he said.
"It's a great club and the playing group is really close and I reckon we can achieve quite a lot in the next two seasons."
