Revs, RSL square off after mid-week crackers

Apr 8, 2011 - 8:15 PM Foxborough, MA (Sports Network) - Real Salt Lake and the New England Revolution square off in Major League Soccer action at Gillette Stadium after both had mid-week crackers.

RSL became the first MLS to advance to the CONCACAF Champions League Final when it topped Deportivo Saprissa in am aggregate series, with the second leg being Tuesday night in Costa Rica.

"We did accomplish something, there's no doubt about it, but I think all of us feel that the real history is to be made in the next round," Real Salt Lake coach Jason Kreis said. "We got to the dance and now we'll see what we can do."

New England, on the other hand, earned a 1-1 draw at Vancouver on Wednesday night thanks to a Ilija Stolica equalizer deep into second-half stoppage time.

"It's a good point for us," Stolica said. "It's important that we stay unbeaten for four games in a row. In the next game, we have to try to win at home."

The Revolution (1-0-3) are undefeated through four games for just the second time in club history.

"We feel as though we should have wanted to win the game, but we didn't make enough chances to win the game, to be honest," Revs coach Steve Nicol said after the most recent result. "With the amount of the ball we had, we should have done better with it. But we're away from home and if we picked up a point every time we went away from home during the season, we should be happy."

RSL's last league match was a 4-1 dismantling of the Los Angeles Galaxy on March 26.

"That's probably 45 minutes of the best soccer I've seen in [Rio Tinto Stadium] and from this team," Kreis said. "It was a sheer delight to watch that."

RSL is relatively healthy, with Tony Beltran, Nick Rimando, Robbie Russell, Chris Schuler and Chris Wingert all expected to be available with knocks.

The Revs will be without A.J. Soares because of a red card he earned on Wednesday, while Matt Reis is out and Franco Coria, Ousmane Dabo , Marko Perovic and Andrew Sousa are doubtful.
