Red Bulls aim to continue streak vs. struggling K.C.

Apr 29, 2011 - 6:35 PM Harrison, NJ (Sports Network) - Red Bull New York hosts the Sporting Kansas City in a Major League Soccer clash between the Eastern table's top and bottom clubs.

New York (3-1-2) holds a one-point advantage on Philadelphia atop the table thanks to two straight wins as well as an extra game played.

The Red Bulls have outscored the opposition 7-0 during their current winning streak, including a 4-0 victory at D.C. United last weekend.

New York superstar Thierry Henry scored two of those goals and is finally producing like the team envisioned when it made him a highly paid designated player last summer.

"I think it's a lot with the health issue definitely [making him play better] because if you have some pain, you can't be as explosive as you want to and you can't run the way you want to," New York coach Hans Backe told the league website.

Juan Agudelo also scored vs. D.C. as a sub, with Luke Rogers taking his spot beside Henry for the second straight game.

"We have three very good strikers," Red Bulls assistant coach Jan Halvor Halvorsen said. "There will be room for all three to play. [Agudelo] came on and scored a good goal. He looked very hungry."

Speaking of hungry, Sporting is a team starving for a victory. The re-branded club has gone four straight without a win after opening the season with a 3-2 win at Chivas USA. Saturday's game will be the sixth of 10 straight road games to open the season.

The most recent setback was a 3-2 loss at New England when the team gave up a late goal while down a man because of the ejection of Aurelien Collin. The red was rescinded by the league this week, making him available for Saturday's game.

Not available for Sporting will be forwards Konrad Warzycha and Omar Bravo because of injuries, while midfielder Luke Sassano is probable with an ankle knock.

New York midfielder Austin Da Luz and forward Corey Hertzog are unavailable because of injuries.
