Sporting tries to end winless skid in L.A.

May 13, 2011 - 8:37 PM Carson, CA (Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Galaxy returns home to face Sporting Kansas City on Saturday at The Home Depot Center with the hosts looking to snap a three-game winless streak.

The Galaxy has been held to 1-1 draws in its last two games, including on Wednesday at Philadelphia as Danny Mwanga scored the equalizer in the 84th minute for the Union in a match that L.A. dominated for long stretches.

"I'm very disappointed. We should've won this game by two or three goals," Galaxy manager Bruce Arena said following the draw with the Union. "We had plenty of chances to get it to 2-0. We were well in control of this game.

"This is a game where we shouldn't be scrambling in the last 10 minutes of the game. We played too well not to have anything to show for it."

Arena will be hoping for a better result on Saturday as Sporting Kansas City brings a three-game losing streak into the match.

Kansas City is in the midst of a 10-game road trip to start the season, but since winning its opening match of the season, the club has failed to win any of its last five games.

Coach Peter Vermes should at least have a rested side with his team last playing a game two weeks ago, while L.A. is making a trip back to California after playing in Philadelphia on Wednesday night.

Vermes will have a pretty healthy squad to choose from with midfielder Birahim Diop one of the only question marks after straining a hamstring in training this week, while designated player Omar Bravo is still recovering from sports hernia surgery and will try to be ready for next week's trip to Seattle.

Arena gave midfielder David Beckham a rest on Wednesday and will likely return the Englishman to the lineup.
