Dallas returns home to face "confident" Chivas USA

Jul 29, 2011 - 8:09 PM Frisco, TX (Sports Network) - FC Dallas returns home to Pizza Hut Park on Saturday to face Chivas USA after a busy week spent away from Texas.

Last weekend the Hoops conceded a late equalizer to Thierry Henry and Red Bull New York despite being up a man in a 2-2 draw, but there were also positives to take from the match as well.

Dallas failed to record a shot on goal in the first half and looked lifeless in a humid Red Bull Arena, but the club responded with a strong second half to take a 2-1 lead before giving up the goal to Henry.

"After that first half we could have settled for a tie, not that we ever want a tie," said Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman. "But it's just disappointing because it kind of reminded us about Houston once we were up a man and up a goal, but it gives us something to continue to work on."

Hyndman had to be pleased with his side on Thursday as the team went to El Salvador and came away with a 1-0 win over Alianza in the first leg of their CONCACAF Champions League playoff.

But a quick turnaround for Dallas won't be easy, even though the team returns home, where it has posted a 7-2-3 record so far this season.

Chivas enters the match with a five-game unbeaten streak and is coming off of an impressive 3-0 win over Houston last time out.

Justin Braun scored a hat trick in the game, and head coach Robin Fraser feels like his team is starting to play with some more confidence, which makes a big difference.

"At the end of the day, some of the goals were really good in terms of good service, great runs by Justin and very good finishing," Fraser said. "For us it was a good night, and more so than just winning, we were able to play with confidence, which is something we've talked about in this team, and when we do play with confidence, we are a decent team."

Another thing that has helped Chivas earn some better results is improved play in the back, with the team allowing just one goal in its last four games.

Forward Alejandro Moreno returns to the team after missing time because of international duty while playing with Venezuela in the Copa America. And after helping his country to a surprising fourth-place finish, his presence will certainly help.

Moreno has tallied three goals and two assists in 11 starts for the team this season.
