Glory's Adam Taggart out for six weeks
Nov 11, 2017 - 4:28 AM Perth Glory have suffered a major blow with star striker Adam Taggart ruled out for six weeks with a hamstring injury.Taggart injured his hamstring during match simulation at training on Thursday and had to be carried from the field by two staff members.
Subsequent scans have revealed a 2cm tear and Glory expect him to miss about six A-League games.
They include big matches against heavyweights Melbourne Victory, Melbourne City and the in-form Jets.
Taggart's absence comes with Glory yet to discover their attacking mojo despite boasting a squad laden with goal-scoring potential.
They haven't posted a win away from home this season but have the chance to end that run when they take on the Phoenix in Wellington on Sunday.
Taggart missed five rounds early last season with a calf injury and his two-year stint overseas following the 2014 World Cup was blighted by groin issues.
The 24-year-old scored 12 goals for Glory last season and had already netted three times in five games this campaign.
His absence means more responsibility will go on the shoulders of striker Andy Keogh and attacking midfielder Diego Castro.
Phoenix copped a 3-0 hiding from Newcastle last week and sit last on the table with just two draws from five rounds.
Wellington will be without key duo Michael McGlinchey and Andrew Durante for Sunday's match because of international duties.
It has been 18 months since the Glory recorded consecutive clean sheets.
They have the chance to repeat that feat on Sunday after last week's 1-0 win over Adelaide.
