Dutton passes Crush past Brigade
Mar 11, 2007 - 7:18 AM DENVER (Ticker) -- John Dutton completed 25-of-38 passes for 262 yards, including a 10-yard touchdown pass with 56 seconds remaining, as the Colorado Crush posted a 44-40 victory over the Kansas City Brigade.Jason Ball kicked three field goals, including a 21-yarder to open the scoring. After Dutton threw two scoring passes in the second quarter, Ball kicked a 38-yarder as time expired in the second quarter, giving the Crush a 20-14 lead.
After Brigade quarterback Raymon Philyaw tied the game at 27 with a seven-yard scoring toss to Cyron Brown with 3:30 left in the third period, Dutton hit Willie Quinnie from 13 yards out to put Colorado up, 34-27, 40 seconds into the final quarter.
A field goal by Ball made the score 37-27 before Philyaw threw his fourth TD pass to Char Frederick with 2:39 remaining. However, Dutton found Damian Harrell with his fourth scoring toss from 10 yards out with under a minute to play to put the Crush ahead, 44-34.
Philyaw, who was 29-of-39 for 291 yards, threw his fifth and final score with 27 seconds left to complete the scoring.
Both teams are 1-1.
