The Citadel rallies to beat Samford 61-57
Feb 5, 2010 - 2:48 AM CHARLESTON, S.C.(AP) -- Austin Dahn scored 15 points and The Citadel scored the final four points to take a 61-57 victory Thursday night over Samford.Samford's Trey Montgomery tied the score at 57 with 42 seconds left, but The Citadel's Bryan Streeter hit a layup with 13 seconds left for a 59-57 lead. Josh Davis missed a 3-pointer with 4 seconds remaining and Cameron Wells finished the scoring with two free throws.
The victory capped a rally from an 11-point deficit for The Citadel (11-12, 5-6 Southern Conference). Samford (9-14, 6-6) led 45-34 with 10:27 left, but the Bulldogs went on a 17-6 run to tie the score at 51 on Ben Cherry's 3-pointer with 3:43 left.
Harrison DuPont scored 13 points, Dahn finished with four of The Citadel's 10 3-pointers and Cherry added nine points on three 3-pointers.
Josh Davis scored 24 points and Bryan Friday added 16 for Samford, which has lost four straight.
