Abrams, Texas out for revenge against Michigan State

Dec 20, 2008 - 2:53 PM No. 22 Michigan State (7-2) at No. 5 Texas (9-1), 2:00 p.m. EST

AUSTIN, Texas (Ticker) -- One of the most successful teams over the past decade, Texas has not been able to find a way to win its meetings with Michigan State.

The fifth-ranked Longhorns are hoping for better luck on Saturday when they host the 22nd-ranked Spartans.

Michigan State has defeated Texas each of the past two seasons, winning by two during the 2006-07 campaign and by a 78-72 score last season.

A.J. Abrams scored 46 points combined in the two setbacks and has been red hot of late for the Longhorns.

The senior is averaging 28.5 points over his last four games and had 27 in Tuesday's 88-72 victory over Texas Southern. Abrams is shooting a career-high 47 percent (37-of-78) from the arc this season.

Raymar Morgan had 26 points and 10 rebounds to lead Michigan State to a 79-65 victory over The Citadel on Wednesday. Morgan was 11-of-12 from the floor.

The junior forward leads the Spartans in scoring (16.9) and rebounding (5.7) this season.

Michigan State did not lose its third game until February 2 last season.
