Chest pains sideline Houston women's coach

Feb 14, 2010 - 8:19 PM DALLAS(AP) -- Houston women's basketball coach Joe Curl has been hospitalized with chest pains two years after missing a season because of a heart attack.

Curl missed Sunday's game at SMU after he was admitted to a Dallas-area hospital Saturday night. The school said he was in stable condition and expected to be released within 24 hours.

The 55-year-old Curl is in his 12th season as Houston's head coach. A heart attack caused him to miss the 2007-08 season. He hasn't missed a game since returning last season.

Assistant coach Wade Scott will lead Houston, which was 12-11 overall and 6-4 in Conference USA play entering Sunday's game.
