BC looks to remain undefeated at Virginia Tech on Thursday

Oct 25, 2007 - 10:38 AM No. 2 Boston College (7-0) at No. 8 Virginia Tech (6-1) 7:30 pm EDT

BLACKSBURG, Virginia (Ticker) -- Boston College coach Jeff Jagodzinski will have to remind his club what Atlantic Coast Conference action is all about.

Jagodzinski's second-ranked Eagles play their first ACC game since mid-September on Thursday when they visit No. 8 Virginia Tech.

Boston College (7-0, 3-0 ACC Atlantic) began its season with conference wins over Wake Forest, North Carolina State and Georgia Tech.

But since their 24-10 road win over the Yellow Jackets on September 15, the Eagles have played four non-conference games, all wins. The Eagles have not played since a 27-14 win at lowly Notre Dame on October 13.

Heisman Trophy candidate Matt Ryan threw for 291 yards and two touchdowns with an interception for Boston College, which also received two rushing TDs and one scoring catch from Andrew Callender.

Virginia Tech (6-1, 3-0 Coastal) has won five straight games since getting crushed at Louisiana State on September 8, 48-7.

The Hokies also last played on October 13, when they crushed host Duke, 43-14, behind 258 yards and two TDs from Sean Glennon.

Virginia Tech's former starting quarterback, Glennon took over from Tyrod Taylor in the second quarter after the freshman sprained his right ankle.

"I'm cautiously optimistic about his chances of playing Thursday," Hokies head trainer Mike Goforth said of Taylor, who had a cast removed last Thursday. "I think he's doing great."

Virginia Tech is 9-4 against its former Big East Conference rival but lost last year, 22-3.
