McPherson throws for six touchdowns to lift Wranglers

Mar 5, 2007 - 1:32 AM AUSTIN, Texas (Ticker) -- Adrian McPherson is off to a hot start.

McPherson threw for six touchdowns and also rushed for a score to lead the Austin Wranglers to a 57-36 victory over the Las Vegas Gladiators in the season opener for both teams.

A former quarterback at Florida State who had a failed stint with the New Orleans Saints after being drafted in the fifth round in 2005, McPherson is in his first season with the Wranglers.

The athletic McPherson completed 13-of-24 passes for 205 yards without a turnover. His six-yard TD run early in the second quarter staked the Wranglers to a 26-0 lead.

In the first quarter, McPherson had TD passes of 15 yards to Chad Dukes and a 17-yard connection to Derrick Lewis.

The Gladiators featured a former NFL quarterback in Shaun King, who played for both Tampa Bay and Arizona. He completed 25-of-45 passes for 275 yards and a touchdown with an interception.

Etu Molden and Kevin Prentiss each had 10 catches and reached 100 yards receiving for the Gladiators.
