Smoker's six touchdown passes lifts Kats over Wranglers

Mar 25, 2007 - 4:50 AM AUSTIN, Texas (Ticker) -- Jeff Smoker's eight-yard touchdown pass to Kenny Higgins with 56 seconds left gave the Nashville Kats to their second straight win.

Smoker completed 15-of-25 passes for 280 yards and six touchdowns to lead the Kats to a 70-63 victory over the Austin Wranglers.

Cornelius Bonner had six catches for 150 yards and three touchdowns and Higgins added five for 75 and three more scores for Nashville (2-2), which moved into a tie with the Colorado Crush for second in the Central Division.

Dan Alexander rushed for three touchdowns and Ahmad Hawkins had three interceptions for the Kats, who converted 2-of-2 on fourth down.

Adrian McPherson threw for 241 yards and five touchdowns for Austin, which remained in fourth place in the Southern Division.

Derrick Lewis collected nine receptions, 108 yards and two touchdowns for the Wranglers, who did not face a fourth down but committed four turnovers.
