George Washington edges Temple, wins A-10
Feb 26, 2007 - 2:34 AM WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- George Washington won its 18th straight game and clinched the Atlantic 10 Conference regular season title.Sarah-Jo Lawrence scored 19 points on 9-of-17 shooting to help the ninth-ranked Colonials complete a perfect Atlantic 10 schedule with a 56-53 victory over Temple.
Lawrence was the only player to score in double digits for George Washington (25-2, 14-0 A-10), which shot 46 percent (25-of-55) from the field.
The Owls (23-6, 13-1) were led by Fatima Maddox, who collected 17 points on 7-of-18 shooting.
Kamesha Hairston had 13 points and 13 rebounds and Lady Comfort added nine and 13 for Temple, which shot just 36 percent (21-of-59) and had their eight-game winning streak snapped.
Whitney Allen had eight points for the Colonials, who overcame being outrebounded, 48-27, by forcing 19 turnovers that led to 15 points.
