Florida looks to retain control of "Cocktail Party" vs. Georgia

JACKSONVILLE, Florida (Ticker) -- Urban Meyer would love to continue his perfect mark against Florida's biggest rivals.

Meyer's ninth-ranked Gators look to continue their mastery of Georgia when they meet in their annual Southeastern Conference grudge match in Jacksonville on Saturday.

The Gators have won eight of the last nine meetings in the game, formerly called the "World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party," and have gone 15-2 in the series since 1990.

Meyer has won his first two meetings with the Bulldogs and is 7-0 against Florida's three chief rivals - Tennessee, Georgia and Florida State.

Both Florida and Georgia are 5-2 overall and 3-2 in the SEC East. They are tied for first with No. 15 South Carolina in the six-team division, but last-place Vanderbilt is just one game behind the Gamecocks, whom they upset last weekend.

Florida is coming off a 45-37 win at Kentucky in which Tim Tebow bolstered his Heisman Trophy candidacy with four passing touchdowns and one on the ground.

A sophomore, Tebow leads the nation in passing efficiency (177.5) and has thrown for 17 touchdowns and rushed for 10 more.

Georgia has not played since edging Vanderbilt in Nashville two weeks ago, 20-17. The Bulldogs outscored the Commodores, 13-0, in the second half, winning the game on a 37-yard field goal with no time left by Brandon Coutu.
