Bou, Acuna lift Racing past Belgrano

Sep 30, 2014 - 4:03 PM Buenos Aires, Argentina (SportsNetwork.com) - Gustavo Bou and Marcos Acuna both scored a pair of goals on Sunday as Racing eased to a 4-1 thrashing of Belgrano at the Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes.

Coming off a 2-1 win over Boca Juniors last time out, Racing was looking for a quick start, but it was Belgrano that opened the scoring in the eight minute after Cesar Pereyra found the back of the net.

But the lead did not last long for the home side as Bou found an equalizer in the 17th minute and Acuna gave Racing the lead with a goal in the 26th minute.

Racing went into the break with the slim margin and pulled away late on as Bou scored his second of the match nine minutes from time and Acuna completed his double in stoppage time to finish off the rout for the visiting side.

The result lifts Racing into fifth place in the table with 16 points, while Belgrano remains in 17th place with eight points.

Also in Argentina on Sunday, Facundo Sanchez and Pablo Vitti scored second- half goals to lift Tigre to a 2-1 win over Defensa y Justicia, while Federico Carrizo scored in the 52nd minute to lift Boca Juniors to a 1-0 win against Quilmes.

Sunday's final fixture saw Lautaro Acosta and Teofilo Gutierrez trade goals as River Plate and Lanus played to a 1-1 draw.

On Saturday, Gimnasia La Plata topped San Lorenzo, 2-0, while Independiente notched a 2-0 result over Rosario Central. Atletico Rafaela and Olimpo played to a scoreless draw.

On Friday, Estudiantes claimed a 3-2 victory over Velez Sarsfield.

Monday's action saw Newell's suffer its first defeat in a 3-0 loss to Banfield while Arsenal cruised to a 3-0 victory over Godoy Cruz.
