Ayovi's brace helps Godoy rout Velez Sarsfield

Nov 25, 2014 - 4:38 PM Buenos Aires, Argentina (SportsNetwork.com) - Jaime Ayovi netted a pair of first-half goals on Saturday to help Godoy Cruz rout Velez Sarsfield, 4-1, extending the club's unbeaten streak in league play to three matches.

Coming off a disappointing 1-1 home draw with Estudiantes last time out, the visitors got off to a much better start this time around as Ayovi opened the scoring after 16 minutes.

Ayovi completed his double just prior to the half-hour mark to double Godoy's advantage, but Lucas Pratto pulled one back for Velez on the stroke of halftime.

The visiting side seized control of the match in the second half as Guillermo Cosaro struck for Godoy in the 52nd minute and Ruben Dario Ramrez added a fourth goal in the 69th minute as Godoy ran out comfortable winners to claim all three points.

The result sees Godoy up to 11th place in the table on 21 points from 17 matches, while Velez Sarsfield is one spot ahead with 22 points.

Also in Argentina on Saturday, Lucas Albertengo netted a second-half double as Atletico Rafaela claimed a 2-0 win over San Lorenzo, while Adrian Nahuel Martinez and Lucas Acevedo traded goals as Olimpo and Rosario Central played to a 1-1 draw.

Silvio Romero and Victor Ayala found the back of the net for Lanus in a 2-0 win against Gimnasia LP.

On Sunday, Facundo Bertoglio and Sebastin Rincon scored to lift Tigre to a 2-1 win over Belgrano, while Jonathan Calleri scored a brace to go with a goal from Emmanuel Gigliotti as Boca Juniors rolled to a 3-1 victory over Independiente.

A 16th-minute own goal from Ramiro Funes Mori proved to be the difference as Racing scored a 1-0 win over league leaders River Plate.

Friday's action saw Banfield ease to a comfortable 3-1 win over Quilmes, while Monday's match saw Arsenal produce three goals in the final half-hour to rally for a 4-2 victory at Newell's.
