Ortigoza's double helps San Lorenzo thrash Estudiantes

Dec 2, 2014 - 5:32 PM Buenos Aires, Argentina (SportsNetwork.com) - Nestor Ortigoza scored a pair of penalty kicks on either side of the intermission on Saturday as San Lorenzo rolled past Estudiantes, 4-0, at the Estadio Pedro Bidegain.

Coming off a 2-0 loss at the hands of Atletico Rafaela last time out, the home side broke a scoreless deadlock in the 49th minute when Ortigoza buried his first penalty kick of the day.

The home side then doubled their advantage in the 74th minute through a goal from Mauro Matos and Ortigoza netted his second tally of the day with nine minutes to play.

Julio Alberto Buffarini scored with two minutes to play to cap the rout, sending San Lorenzo into 11th place in the table with 23 points, while Estudiantes remains in sixth place with 28 points from 18 matches played.

Also in Argentina on Saturday, Federico Mancuello scored in the 79th minute to lift 10-man Independiente to a 1-0 win over Newell's.

On Sunday, Diego Milito netted a pair of second-half goals to go with one from Ricardo Gaston Diaz as Racing claimed a 3-0 victory over Rosario Central, while Tigre rolled to a 3-1 victory against Atletico Rafaela.

Fernando Cavenaghi netted a pair of goals, including a 75th-minute penalty kick winner as River Plate earned a 3-2 result over Banfield, while Jonathan Calleri's 88th-minute strike saved a point for Boca Juniors in a 2-2 draw against Lanus.

On Friday, Pablo Vegetti scored on either side of the break and Lucas Matias Licht added a third goal as Gimnasia LP earned a 3-1 win over Quilmes, while Lucas Pratto's double powered Velez Sarsfield to a 2-0 win against Defensa y Justicia.

Monday's action saw Olimpo earn an impressive 3-0 victory at Godoy Cruz and Belgrano claim a 2-0 victory at Arsenal.
