San Lorenzo rolls past Belgrano to snap slide

Nov 18, 2014 - 5:11 PM Buenos Aires, Argentina (SportsNetwork.com) - San Lorenzo put an end to a two- match losing streak on Saturday when the club claimed a comfortable 4-0 victory over Belgrano at the Estadio Pedro Bidegan.

Things broke in favor of the home side after just eight minutes as Belgrano's Juan Carlos Olave was shown a straight red card, reducing the visiting side to 10 men for almost the entirety of the match.

Belgrano struggled playing down a man and San Lorenzo opened the scoring through a penalty kick from Nestor Ortigoza just three minutes after Olave was given his marching orders.

The home side then doubled the advantage in the 15th minute through a goal from Juan Ignacio Mercier and Pablo Barrientos added a third goal in the 42nd minute to give the hosts a comfortable advantage at the break.

With the result seemingly in hand after 45 minutes, the home side added another goal with three minutes to play to wrap up all three points and move into 11th place in the table with 20 points.

Belgrano, meanwhile, stays in 13th place after seeing their three-match winning streak come to an end.

Also in Argentina on Saturday, Gustavo Bou scored three minutes from time to lift Racing to a 1-0 win over Quilmes, while Facundo Oreja and Nicolas Bertolo traded goals as Gimnasia LP and Banfield played to a 1-1 draw.

On Sunday, Maxi Rodriguez and Victor Ruben Lopez found the back of the net as 10-man Newell's held on for a 2-1 win over Tigre, while Jose Luis Fernandez and Leandro Desabato traded tallies as Godoy Cruz and Estudiantes battled to a 1-1 draw.

League leaders River Plate conceded a 70th minute goal to Miguel Borja and were held to a 1-1 draw with Olimpo, while Arsenal and Boca Juniors also shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.

On Friday, Ciro Rius and Nicolas Bertochi found the back of the net to help Defensa y Justicia claim a 2-1 win over Atletico Rafaela, while Rosario Central and Velez Sarsfield played to a scoreless stalemate.

Monday's action saw Independiente rally from one goal down to collect a 4-1 victory over Lanus, which finished the contest with only nine men.
